Calgary Indie Saab is dedicated to making Saab restoration projects easier for the DIY mechanic. Certain aspects of Saab restoration are downright impossible and continually require enthusiasts to struggle with improvisational strategies that test your patience. Our aim is to make your repair job or project car come together faster!! Products: Engine Plate 8 valve engine plate$75 USD including postage in North America 16 valve engine plate$60 USD This engine plate allows the rebuilder to hang a Saab C900 8 or 16-valve engine from a North American engine stand. It allows you to work on virtually any side of the engine at any time, making transmission separation, front and back sealing, oil pump access and/or repairs with ease. This system keeps the block off your workbench or floor, away from grit, and gives easy access to any part of the engine. Use this plate to:
The engine also sits closer to the center of the engine stand, offering more stability while stationary or being rotated for access to the bottom end of the block. Your engine stand adapter ‘plate’may have a particular configuration –don’t hesitate to send me the pattern and diameter of holes and I’ll have the holes drilled in the plate to allow instant bolting onto your stand. Alternatively, you can drill the holes to fit. Machine screws and washers are included for attaching the plate to the block. You may have to purchase extra washers to finish the attachment to your stand. Washers help to create the gap needed between the adapter plate and the engine plate for the machine screw heads. Control arm bushings
Also available is a special funnel and drift for pressing the upper or lower control arm bushings into the A-arm mounts. The funnel helps the first lip of the bushing enter the mount with ease, keeps the bushing on track as it enters the mount, and reduces the chance of damaging the bushing due to a poor insertion. Alternatively, send me your mounts and bushings and I’ll install them for you! They make a small package for shipping, and are light in weight. |
